Twilight New Moon pgs. 1-50

The book starts off with a dream Bella is having. She sees herself as an old lady standing next to Edward who is still young and beautiful. I believe that in Bella's dream the theme of youth is very noticeable. Bella is obviously worried that because she is not a vampire that she will grow old while her love, Edward, will not. Everyone wishes they could stay forever young.
Bella wakes up to her birthday! She goes over to the Cullen's home to celebrate. While she's there she collides with shattering glass which slices her arms up. The vampires all go into attack mode except for Carlisle who patches her up. What a downer on her birthday? Edward decides that he is only putting her in danger and leaves her in the next chapter. I find Edward to be very selfish. He leaves Bella because he thinks he is doing what's best for her but if he would listen to her he would be able to see that she's dying without him.
