Twilight New Moon pgs. 550-562 (end of book)
The "rulers" let them all go because Alice and Edward are both very gifted vampires. The only condition is that Edward must turn Bella into a vampire by the next he sees the "rulers." He agrees but tells Bella he won't do it. She wants to be a vampire with him though. He's always so selfish only doing what he wants, but if he turned Bella into a vampire no one could harm her. She doesn't get much closure on the situation, and she dreads going home and telling Jacob that she's with Edward.
Twilight New Moon pgs. 500-550
Bella and Alice take a plane to a city called Volterra located in Europe and inhabited by vampires. Edward's plan is to make the "rulers" of the vampires angry by revealing himself to the humans. He wants to die. Again I hate how impulsive Edward is! he's stupid for leaving Bella and for trying to kill himself. He should at least make sure she's actually dead.
I understand that Bella loves him, but I don't know if I would go after someone who treated me so awful. I don't think I could leave Jacob behind without an explanation.
Bella convinces Edward she is still alive but it is too late. He has already revealed himself. Now not only has he put himself in danger, but he's also put Bella in danger. He thought leaving would keep her safe?? Bella, Alice, and Edward all are summoned to see the "rulers."

Twilight New Moon pgs. 450-500
Bella has a dream of Romeo and Juliette. When she wakes up she ponders what Juliette would do if Romeo had lost interest in her. She applies it to her situation with Edward and feels sad again. She begins to compare her love for Jacob and Edward and she realizes that she does love Jacob but not in the way she loved Edward.
Bella and Jacob are in the car on the way back to her house when Jacob begins to shake. Bella asks him what is wrong and he says that he can smell a vampire. When they reach Bella's street she sees Carlisle's car and begins running to her house in hopes that Edward may be there. Jacob follows. Bella goes inside to find Alice. Alice explains that she saw a vision of Bella dying (obviously it was not true). Alice tells Bella that Edward believes that Bella is dead so he plans to kill himself. Bella and Alice leave Jacob behind to go find Edward.

Twilight New Moon pgs. 400-450
Bella learns more about what it's like to be a wolf. Wolves are warm blooded unlike vampires who are as cold as ice. When they lose their temper they transform into their wolf selves. They can hear eachothers thoughts while they are in wolf form, and communicate this way. They stop aging for as long as they are wolves. They can only stop being wolves when the vampires leave the land. They imprint on their life partners. When they see their soul mate they instantly are aware of it. Jacob explains that the worst part of being a wolf is feeling out of control. He says he feels like a monster sometimes. When Jacob speaks about imprinting on his soul mate it's apparent that he believes that he is in love with Bella but again she plays with his heart.
Twilight New Moon pgs. 350-400
The wolves continue to hunt the vampire that is out to get Bella. The vampire, Victoria, wants revenge on Edward for killing her lover so she plots to kill his. I'm so angry at Edward now. He left Bella defenseless to Victoria. Jacob is the only one there to pick up the pieces. Bella will eventually have to make about whether or not she wants to be with Jacob. I hope she chooses to be with him because he seems so sincere. I believe he honestly cares about her, and he's way less drama than moody Edward. Edward was way too selfish.
Bella in a way is leading Jacob on. She should tell him if she just wants to be friends, but she instead holds his hand. They act like a couple but it's apparent that if Edward came back she'd take him back in a heart beat. She's using Jacob for protection and to fill the void of her loss.

Twilight New Moon pgs. 300-350
In this chapter Bella finds out that Jacob is a wolf. This is why he's been acting so strange. She warns Jacob that her father is hunting for wolves along with the rest of the police. Bella feels like she's pulled in two directions. She's learned to love the vampires, but Jacob is trained to kill them. Bella is disgusted with Jacob at first because she believes that he is hunting humans, but he is actually hunting the vampires that are killing the humans. I feel like it's really hypocritical for Bella to be upset with Jacob when she was friends with vampires for so long. Jacob tells Bella that he and the pack killed the vampire Laurent who previously tried to attack her. Bella knows there is a vampire out to get her. Jacob promises to protect both her and her father. I already like Jacob more than Edward. He's loyal and protective of Bella. He would never leave her like Edward did so selfishly.
Graphite Drawings
These are graphite drawings, but they look like they could be tattoos to me. I really like the shading and value range of the pencil.

Twilight New Moon pgs. 250-300
Jacob is very forceful with Bella. He is too aggressive in the way that he goes about trying to date her. I find this to be a turn off. Bella just wants someone there for her, but Jacob can't grasp that. Jacob should lay off for a while.
He starts acting very strange. He stops returning calls and Bella never sees him. She shows up at his house but his father sends her home...
He starts acting very strange. He stops returning calls and Bella never sees him. She shows up at his house but his father sends her home...
Twilight New Moon pgs. 200-250
Bella starts hanging out with Jacob. Even her father can see that he fills the empty void in her. Bella and Jacob start to form a relationship. I'm kind of mad at Bella...she's definitely leading him on. Jacob is a sophmore while she's a senior. She shouldn't play with a younger boy's feelings just because she is hurt herself. She makes it apparent that she doesn't want a relationship, but the false hope leaves Jacob elated.
Twilight New Moon pgs. 150-200
Bella decides to start making more of an effort to be happy.. for her father's sake. She starts shopping with friends. I find that this is selfless of Bella.
Bella realizes that by doing dangerous things she hears Edwards voice in her head warning her. Seeing as this is the only way for her to see Edward she decides to become an adrenaline junky. It's as if at this point in the book Bella is so miserable that even her life is worth losing just to hold on to a memory of Edward.

Twilight New Moon pgs. 100-150
Bella shuns all of her friends. Her father thinks that maybe she should get out of town for a while and live with her mother. Bella reuses to go though because leaving forks would mean leaving the last thing she has tying her to Edward. I feel awful for her dad. It must be so difficult as a parent to see his child suffering and not being able to fix it. I would hate Edward if I were him.
Twilight New Moon pgs. 50-100
Edward dumps Bella in the forest. She gets lost trying to find him, and falls asleep. She wakes up in the arms of one of her father's friends who has been looking for her. After being questioned by her father Bella runs to her room to find anything that may remind her of Edward but as he said "everything that reminds you of me will be gone." I'm so angry with Edward at this point in the story. He literally dumps her out of nowhere and then takes her belongings. what a selfish person. It's hard to see why he thinks he's doing her a favor...
She begins missing school, and is depressed for months on end.
She begins missing school, and is depressed for months on end.
Twilight New Moon pgs. 1-50
The book starts off with a dream Bella is having. She sees herself as an old lady standing next to Edward who is still young and beautiful. I believe that in Bella's dream the theme of youth is very noticeable. Bella is obviously worried that because she is not a vampire that she will grow old while her love, Edward, will not. Everyone wishes they could stay forever young.
Bella wakes up to her birthday! She goes over to the Cullen's home to celebrate. While she's there she collides with shattering glass which slices her arms up. The vampires all go into attack mode except for Carlisle who patches her up. What a downer on her birthday? Edward decides that he is only putting her in danger and leaves her in the next chapter. I find Edward to be very selfish. He leaves Bella because he thinks he is doing what's best for her but if he would listen to her he would be able to see that she's dying without him.

The Host pgs. 92-157 (65 pgs.)
The seeker questions Wanderer, and makes rude comments. They are on their way to see the healer Ford. The drive is long so Wanderer takes the time to probe Melanie's mind. She reminisces about better times with her family.
The Host pgs. 49-91 (42 pgs.)
Wanderer visits her comforter, Kathy, who reveals that Wanderer has never needed one before. The comforter is a sort of therapist. The comforter discusses Wanderer's purpose on Earth. Wanderer gives the comforter more information about Melanie. It is apparent that Melanie has way too much control still over her body. She is present enough to the point that she is irritated when Wanderer cuts her hair.
I can't even comprehend what it would be like to have two minds in one body.
The comforter tells Wanderer to make friends of her own to lessen Mel's influence.
Wanderer begins to give the reader more information of her own species.

The Host pgs. 1-48 (48 pgs.)
Wanderer wakes up in her new host body, Melanie. She begins to try and erase the past memories of her host body. The body's memory begins with running from the seekers. Melanie's near death was caused by her running away from the seekers. Melanie refuses to give her body over to Wanderer. It is unusual for the consciencous of the host body to linger for so long. While Wanderer sees Melanie's memory a image appears. The image is a man, and Wanderer can't take her eyes off of him.
Wanderer overhears a conversation between Ford Deep Waters and the seeker. The discussion is more of an argument, and we learn that Wanderer was chosen to be implanted in Melanie because of her rebellious behavior. Wanderer still tries to tap Melanie's brain, but she can't. She believes that she has been put in a damaged host. She becomes frustrated.
When Wanderer explains to the seeker that she can't tap Melanie's mind he explains that Melanie is simply resisting control.
A memory of Melanie's shows her raiding a house for supplies for her and her younger brother, Jamie. She then runs into a man.. they both believe eachother to be a "body snatcher" until he realizes she is human and kisses her. She panics, kneeing him to get away. He then throws a rock at her. He proves to Melanie that he's a human as well, and decides they should stay together. Wanderer wakes up from the memory and gives the information to the seeker.
So far in this book I am very confused. There are a lot of flash backs and memories being described. I feel like I'm on Melanie's side in the situation. I wouldn't want someone being able to control me...and erase my soul. I think it's awful that someone or something would be able to see Melanie's inner thoughts, feelings, and memories. Our minds are really the only private components we have as a human.

Do not stand at my grave and weep.
This is a poem written in 1932 by Mary Elizabeth Frye.
Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am in a thousand winds that blow,
I am the softly falling snow.
I am the gentle showers of rain,
I am the fields of ripening grain.
I am in the morning hush,
I am in the graceful rush
Of beautiful birds in circling flight,
I am the starshine of the night.
I am in the flowers that bloom,
I am in a quiet room.
I am in the birds that sing,
I am in each lovely thing.
Do not stand at my grave bereft
I am not there. I have not left.
I really enjoy this poem. It perfectly describes what I want my death to be like. Instead of mourning I want people to be celebrating the life I lived. I do not want my loved ones crying over my grave, but instead I want them to simply keep me in their hearts.

Art
I really like art, and I believe that it's very therapeutic. Here are a few of the types of art that I enjoy to look at and create myself. The picture of the roses is a pencil sketch. The picture of the men is water color. The picture of the bird is printmaking. The picture of the apple is pastel. The picture of the trees is chalk pastel. The picture of the man is an ink drawing.
My favorite songs at the moment are...
- Banana Pancakes by Jack Johnson
- Bow Chicka Wow Wow by Mike Posner
- Pretty Girl Rock by Keri Hilson
- 42 by Coldplay
- Look at me Now by Chris Brown
I really enjoy music from all genres. I think that the kind of music I want to hear depends on my mood at the time.
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone pgs. 225-300 (75 pgs.)
While the students wait to be sorted Harry sees about twenty ghosts pass by. Everything about the school is magical. The ceiling even looks as if it's a real starry night sky. Harry, Ron, and Hermoine are all sorted into Gryffindor. During dinner the first years are introduced to all of the proffessors, and told the rules. To enter each house you must have a password. The students enter through giant portraits. Gryffindor's portrait is a mouthy fat lady. Harry like the other first years is eager to learn the way of the school. He soon realizes that Filch patrols the hallways and is eager to catch students. Harry has many classes dealing with potions and spells. Harry can already tell that his potions teacher, Snape, hates him. I'm confused as to why Snape hates Harry though? I would love to go to a school like this. It sounds so exciting! The ceilings reflect the sky outside, the food is good, and everything is full of magic!
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone pgs. 150-225 (75 pgs.)
After resting for the night Harry wakes up to an owl by his side. The owl has a letter for Harry which is a list of the supplies he will need for Hogwarts. Hagrid reads in the newspaper that the Ministry of Magic wants Dumbledore as minister. Hagrid explains that Dumbledore would never leave Hogwarts though. Cornelius Fudge received the position instead. Harry and Hagrid go to the bank to retrieve the money that Harry's parents left for him. They then go to a bar called The Leaky Cauldron where they see Professor Quirrell. He is a brilliant man. Through a hidden entrance behind the bar Harry and Hagrid enter Diagon Alley where they shop for Harry's supplies. When it comes time to purchase a wand Harry's match is the brother wand to Voldemort's wand. I find it ironic that Harry's wand would be the brother to the wand that killed his parents. Harry gets his ticket for the train to leave for school, and Hagrid buys him a owl which he names Hedwig. Harry has trouble finding the platform 9 and 3/4. He sees another wizard family using a secret entrance and follows behind them. He then sits with the boy he followed through the entrance on the train. The boys name is Ron Weasely, and he is a first year as well. The boys then meet another first year named Hermoine. Both Ron and Hermoine are astounded to find out that Harry is indeed the boy who survived Voldemort. When the train stops at the school Hagrid instructs all of the first years to follow him. They take boats across a lake to the school, and then are seated. They must go through a sorting ceremony to see what house they are in.
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone pgs. 75-150 (75 pgs.)
Summer break begins which brings Harry relief from being tormented by Dudley's freind's at school. Harry is definitely not respected and given the short end of the stick in almost every situation. For example, his aunt and uncle decide to send him to a public school while they decide to send their son to a private school. Harry begins receiving strange mail, but he can't read the letters that are addressed to him because his uncle starts burning the mail. Each time a letter is burned it seems as if twice as many are sent again. The house at one point begins to be filled with letters to the point where Harry's aunt and uncle evacuate. Everyone goes to a lake cottage hoping the letters will stop. If I were Harry I would wonder so much about what was being hidden from me. I would also worry about my safety because it's not like he has anyone looking out for him. What if the letters are from someone who he should be afraid of? Why was it such a problem that they all had to leave the house? While Harry is counting down to midnight (his birthday) someone bangs on the cottage door. A man named Hagrid introduces himself as the keeper of the grounds of Hogwarts, a school for witches and wizards. He takes Harry with him after much debate from Harry's guardians. Harry finds out that he's a wizard. He is told the story of how his parents really died, and he is told that he will enrole to Hogwarts. I feel like it is a lot to take in, but probably relieving for Harry to leave his aunt and uncle. He has nothing but good things to look forward to, and finally a place to belong.
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone pgs. 1-75 (75 pgs.)
The new/last HP movie is coming out soon! I decided since it's the last movie that I may actually want to read the books:) I've never really been a fan of HP let alone watched a movie all the way through so my friends and I are having a HP marathon the night before the movie hits theatres! Mr. Vernon Durseley and his wife Petunia live at Private Drive no. 4 with their son Dudley. Mr. Durseley on his way to work sees unusual events happening. When he arrives at work he hears everyone throwing the name "Potter" around. Mr. Durseley suspects that this is in reference to his nephew, Harry. The second part of the chapter is a flashback. While the Durseley's lie asleep in their home a magical man named Dumbledore appears. He begins speaking to a cat. The cat transforms into Professor McGonnagal. The two begin to worry that the "muggles" (a term used to describe a regular person) may have seen something so Dumbledore puts the street lights out. They also speak about horrible events. Harry's wizard parents were murdered by another powerful wizard, Voldemort. Somehow Harry survived making him special in a way. Dumbledore and McGonnagal leave Harry on the front step of the Durseley's home. They plan to later come retrieve him around a later age to train him in wizardry. Harry lies there with nothing left to remind him of the murder except a lighting bolt scar on his forehead. Ten years later it is almost Harry's eleventh birthday. On Dudley's birthday the family plans an outing at the zoo, but Harry's birthday is not acknowledged. While at the zoo Harry has a conversation with a snake, and sets it free. He doesn't know that he's a wizard, but it is obvious he has powers that are unexplainable. At this point in the book I don't really like the Durseley family. They treat Harry worse than a pet dog. Harry receives no love or guidance, and I'm amazed that he doesn't show more signs of emotional distress. I kind of wonder what Harry thinks happened to his parents seeing as he doesn't even know that he's a wizard. I believe that his aunt and uncle resent him because they're jealous that he's so special in his own magical world. I feel like he knows that there is something different about him, and it must be hard to go about the changes alone without even a friend.

My Mother is on Facebook.
My mom decided that she should get a facebook. I DO NOT approve of this. You can believe that she will not be found on my friend's list. I didn't even think she knew what facebook was...let alone how to use it?! There is a line that is very clear, and parents should not cross it. This line is a boundary. I don't want my mom being able to see all of my conversations with my friends. It's not like I'm saying anything innapropriate, but these conversations clearly do not involve her.

Tom Robinson is found guilty, but they appeal it. Everything seems to go back to the color of Tom's skin. Later, Tom tries to escape, and is shot seven times to the head.
School starts again, and the children pass the Radley's home. They are too old to be frightened like they once were. The children end up meeting Boo, Mr. Arthur, at a halloween party. He is a kind, frail old man. He seems to be full of wisdom.
The book ends on a sweet note, but it really makes you think. Equality is something we'd all like to pretend we believe in, but unless you take action and make it reality then you're no better than anyone who believed Tom was a criminal.

Scout finds Dill hiding under her bed. He tells Jem and Scout that he has run away because his parents do not pay enough attention to him. Atticus feeds Dill, and then lets his aunt know where he is.
Soon after Dill's arrival, a group of men including the sheriff show up at Atticus' home because of the nearing trial. Tom Robinson is to be held in jail, and they are afraid of a lynching. Later that night the children over hear Aunt Alexandra telling Atticus that he has brought shame to the family with this case. As bad as I feel to admit it I think that Atticus is putting his family in a very tough situation. I think it's a little selfish of him to make his children suffer along with him through the case when they don't even understand the situation. If he wanted to take on these kinds of cases why would he become a father in the first place? I'm all for standing up for what is right, but as a child it must be difficult for Jem and Scout to understand the ridicule they must withstand every day. I'd feel really helpless seeing my father's name being spit on, and not being able to do anything about it.
When the trial begins a vast crowd shows up. Tom Robinson is an African American being tried for raping a young woman. Atticus believes that he is innocent.

For the first time in a very long time Maycomb receives snow. School is closed so the children have fun building snowmen, and visiting Miss Maudie. That night Miss Maudie's home burns to the ground from an unknown cause. Boo put a blanket around shivering Scout's shoulder's. Scout was too engrossed in the fire to notice Boo though. During this chapter there is a great deal of symbolism. When Scout sees the snow she believes that the world is ending. In this part of the book Scout's life is indeed ending as she knows it. Her father takes on a new case for Tom Robinson, and it starts to make her question everything.
As the trial grows closer the children recieve slurs and remarks against their father. He tells them not to retaliate. It is extremely hard for Scout not to fight with people who are degrading her father's name, but it's his will not to.
Summer begins again, and the children grow apart. To add to Scout's disappointment Dill won't be visiting either. Aunt Alexandria comes to visit though. Aunt Alexandria is very formal, and believes that Scout is too much of a tomboy, but Atticus won't hear any of it!

To Kill a Mockingbird pgs. 1-71 (71 pgs.)
The book is narrarated by Scout Finch. The book starts out with a flashback, and the reaccounting of how Scout's brother, Jem, broke his arm. Throughout the story there are multiple flashbacks and flashforwards which I do not like. It's not that I find it hard to keep up with the storyline, but that it's not the style of writing I enjoy.
From the very beginning of the book it is easy to tell that Scout is a fighter, not a lover. Her solution to everything is fighting. I actually admire this child in some way because she knows what she believes is right. She fights for the truth even though she's so young. There are many instances though when she could handle the situations more maturely. For example, she beat her friend Dill up for not paying enough attention to her. This shows her age because it is very juvenile to show that much lack of self control. Perhaps she turns to fighting to solve her problems because she knows she'll win? I mean it is a technique that seems to work for her.
Scout goes on to explain her family history. The first of her ancestors to come to America was a fur-trader, Simon Finch. He established a farm that supported the family for many years. Scout's father, Atticus, was the first to make a living away from the farm as he became a lawyer in the town, Maycomb. The story takes place during the Great Depression. Atticus is a single father, but their cook Calpurnia helps raise the children. His wife died when his children were very young.
In the summer of 1933 Scout and Jem's friend Dill comes to visit. Dill tells the children of a man named Boo Radley who lives near the Finch's home. Dill convinces them that Boo is crazy. The story goes that Boo lives in his family's home where as a child his father used to imprison him. He later stabbed his father, but his parents refused to commit him to an asylum. When Boo's father died his brother Nathan came to live with him. Boo is never seen outside of the run-down house, but the children decide they should luer him out.
Dill leaves in September, and Scout begins school for the first time. Scout gets along horribly with her teacher. She gets in a fight her first day, but her brother intervenes. The rest of the school year is just as bad, but the children remain interested in Boo. He starts leaving them goodies under a tree in his yard.
Dill returns during the Summer, and grows closer to Jem leaving Scout feeling left out. She begins to spend time with an older lady in the neighborhood who loves baking, Miss Maudie Atkinson. Miss Maudie tells Scout about Boo as a child, saying he was always polite.

Favorite Website!!
http://www.elle.com/ This is a link to the website of a very well known fashion magazine. The website is divided into sections: Runway, Fashion, Hair & Beauty, Life & Love, Accessories, Shopping, Astrology, and Food. Each section provides information on that specific topic. My favorite is Fashion. This website keeps me updated on day to day style changes. I think it would be really cool to work for a magazine like this one someday.

Twilight pages 375-423
Before Bella and Edward can make an escape they see three vampires step out of the woods Laurent, James, and Victoria. They seem vicious. They approach the Cullens, and Laurent is the first to speak by greeting them all. Carlisle then introduces his family including Bella. Each of the groups of vampires start sharing their stories. The new group of vampires are suprised to hear that the Cullen's maintain a permanent home in the town.
With a woosh of the wind James can smell Bella. No one had mentioned that she was human, and James goes into attack mode. Urgently, Carlisle offers to show Laurent, James, and Victoria his home, and tells Edward to take Bella home.
On the way back to Bella's home Edward makes it clear that it is not safe for Bella to be in Forks while the vampires are in attack mode. Now that they know how precious Bella is to Edward it will just make the challenge more satisfying. Edward is worried that James will follow Bella's scent to her home so Bella creates a plan to lead James away from her dad. She explains, "You take me back to Charlie's house. I tell my dad I want to go home to Phoenix. I pack my bags. We wait till James is watching, and then we run. He'll follow us and leave Charlie alone. Charlie won't call the FBI on your family." After leaving Bella's home Alice will take Bella to Phoenix, while Edward leads James in the opposite direction. Edward agrees to the plan, but worries about leaving Bella's side.
As soon as Bella gets home she puts her plan into action. Bella pretends to throw a huge fit telling her dad that she doesn't want to stay in Forks. When he asks why Bella just tells him she dumped Edward and refuses to be tied down in this pathetic town. Her father being so hurt let her leave, but not without begging her to stay first. Bella feels awful leaving her dad and making him feel so badly, but she doesn't want him to be a victim. She leaves.
Bella runs out to her truck and heads towards the Cullen's. When she arrives, Laurent is telling Carlisle about James. Laurent warns that he's never seen James act this way and that he "lethal." The Cullens stick to the plan. Alicewill take her to Phoenix. Esme and Rosalie will take Bella's truck in hopes of leading James in the wrong direction. Edward, Emmett, and Carlisle will go in another direction. The plan is to kill James. Edward and Bella say their goodbye's.
When Bella arrives to the hotel it seems like she's being useless just sitting around waiting for news. She continues to worry about Edward's safety. To pass the time, Bella asks Alice how humans are turned into vampires. Alice explains that vampires are venomous. If they bite someone but don't kill them then the venom will spread through the body turning them into a vampire. It takes about three days and is painful.
Alice sees a vision of James changing his plans. She sees a room full of mirrors so she calls Carlisle. Carlisle then gives the phone to Edward so Bella can talk to him. Edward reports that they lost James, but that everyone is safe.

Twilight pages 313-374
In the morning, Bella wakes up and is happy that Edward is still with her. Edward reports that she told him that she loved him in her sleep. She acts as if he should have already known. Edward then invites Bella over to meet his family, and hopes that she will introduce him to her father as her boyfriend.
They leave for the Cullen's house. Edward introduces Carlisle, his adoptive father, Esme, his adoptive mother, and each of his adoptive siblings. Alice is very friendly with Bella, and makes an effort to make her feel accepted. Edward then plays a song he wrote about Bella on the piano. Bella nervously asks how Carlisle and Esme feel about her, and he replies telling her that they're happy as long as he's happy! Edward talks more about the family's history. Overall everyone is very happy with Bella.
Carlisle's story was the most interesting. Carlisle had been alive for over 300 years, and at first was depressed over becoming a vampire. He tried killing himself, but that didn't work. Carlisle started eating animals instead, and spent his time studying at Universities. He never felt like he fit in becausehe refused to drink human blood. Later he moved to America, where as a doctor he changed Edward. Edward admits to Bella with an ashamed look that as a young vampire he rebelled and did drink human blood until he developed a conscience.
After all the stories Edward takes Bella upstairs to show her his room. It's packed with CD's, and music. Bella notices that something is missing though. Edward does not have a bed. Edward explains that vampires never sleep. How awful that must be to not be able to check out of the world every once in a while. Edward tells Bella that they're is a storm coming, and asks her to play baseball with the family. She reluctantly agrees to play.
Edward takes Bella home, and tells her he'll be back to get her for baseball. Billy and Jacob Black are waiting for her when she gets inside. Billy tries to discuss Edward, but Bella acts annoyed and shows Billy and Jacob to the door. Charlie arrives home later after work, and Bella tells him about her and Edward. When Edward picks Bella up for baseball Charlie is impressed that he can get Bella to play ball with him and his family.
When they leave, Edward takes Bella to an empty field. The Cullens are playing baseball on a far larger diamond than Bella expected. The large field and thunder storm are both necessary for the Cullen's to play. The storm covers the sound of the ball cracking the bat due to their strength.

Bella stays along the sidelines avoiding the ball acting as the referee. The game ends in a rush when Alice has a vision (she has the ability to see the future). She sees a group of human-eating vampires passing through who stop to play their game. Bella will serve as the snack if the Cullen's don't get her out of there fast enough.

When Edward tells Bella that they've reached their destination they are standing in a sunny meadow in the woods. Bella sees Edward in the sun for the first time. She found his appearance shocking and lovely all at once. He literally sparkled in the light. Edward and Bella lie down, but before she can get too close he's drawing boundaries.
Edward demonstrates his speed and strength for Bella and she feels like she's seeing him for the beautiful creature he is. He tears a thick tree branch and throws it over a cliff, and then runs circles around her. She is in awe of his abilities. Edward explains that he would never hurt her. He also explains how difficult it is for him to be around her comparing himself to a recovering hroine addict, and she being his own particular brand of heroine. After their afternoon in the meadow Edward takes Bella home.
On the ride home Edward informs Bella of how he was turned into a vampire. He was 17, dying of influenza when Carlisle turned him over. After turning Edward, Carlisle turned his wife, Esme, who had fallen off a cliff and was dying. Rosalie was saved after Esme. Rosalie found Emmett being attacked by a bear, and had Carlisle save him so she could have a companion. Alice and Jasper joined the "family" later. When Bella and Edward arrive back at her place Edward admits he's familiar with her house because he spies on her. Edward also confesses that he watches her sleep. When Bella's dad comes home Edward hides, and reappears to watch Bella sleep. They snuggle as Bella falls asleep. Edward already is in love with her.
Twilight pages 219-260
When Bella and Edward show up to class together everyone notices. It must look weird to everyone.. one day they're hostile and the next hand in hand? Mike, an admirer, makes it clear that he doesn't approve of her and Edward as a couple. He tells Bella, "He looks at you like...like you're something to eat." Kind of ironic seeing as he desires nothing as much as he does to drain her body of it's blood.
Edward gives Bella a ride home again and that's when she asks him if she can watch him "hunt" sometime. How stupid is she?! If he wants her blood then why would she offer to go "hunting" making it that much more difficult for him to resist temptation. I'm starting to think that she wants to be killed.
The next morning when Edward takes Bella to school he throws all the questions he can think of at her. During lunch, Edward continues to question her, and then again on their drive home from school. As Edward leaves the Blacks pull into her driveway giving Edward a death stare.
Jacob and Billy Black are at Bella's to watch the game with her dad, Charlie. Bella catches up with Jacob while fixing dinner for all the guys. Jacob explains that his father doesn't approve of Edward. When Jacob and Billy leave Billy says to Bella with a serious face, "You take care, Bella.

Edward the next morning in the car tells Bella that he has to leave after lunch to go hunting.
During lunch Bella realizes that Alice is definitely the most supportive sister Edward has. Edward explains the situation with his other sister Rosalie: Rosalie's just worried. You see...it's dangerous for more than just me if, after spending so much time with you so publicly... If this ends...badly."
When Bella arrives home Charlie announces that he'll be out fishing over the weekend. Bella considers telling her father that she'll be with Edward, but decides not to.

Edward suprises Bella the next morning by telling her that they're going hiking! When Bella tells Edward that noone knows that she's with him he gets mad. Eventually, Edward calms down and they start they're hike.
Twilight pages 179-218
On the car ride home with Edward, Bella starts wondering how Edwards mind reading works, and learns from him that he can't read hers. This is a key reason she's so interesting to him. He has never met anyone who has been such a challenge for him. Edward then wants to hear Bella's theories on what he is and why he can do the things he does. Bella thinks about telling Edward about the tribal story, but reconsiders. She then tells Edward that it doesn't matter to her what he is. This seems to make Edward angry.
Edward finally admits to being a vampire although he doesn't use the term. She asks him about his diet, and he explains that his family drinks animal blood. He also explains that they go away "hunting" for weeks at a time which is why he misses so much school. Edward acknowledges his "thirst" for Bella, "I didn't want to leave, but it was necessary. It's a bit easier to be around you when I'm not thirsty." It's as if with every word Edward is just trying to convince Bella that he's dangerous. The ride comes to an end, and Edward promises Bella before saying goodbye that he'll be in school the next day.

The next morning when Bella heads outside to her truck, she finds Edward in his Volvo, waiting for her in the driveway. He asks her if she'd like a ride to which she replies yes. On their way to school, Edward tries to hear Bella's thoughts with no luck. She tells him that he wouldn't want to hear her thoughts anyways, but that only makes him irritated. When Bella arrives at school she is bombarded by questions from Jessica which Edward already told her how to answer by reading Jessica's mind. It is established that the two are now a couple. Bella tells Jessica that she feels like she likes Edward way more than he likes her.
At lunch, It is obvious Edward has been listening in on the girl's conversations because he tries to convince Bella that he is the one who likes her way more than she likes him. Bella can't believe that though she's "absolutely ordinary," and he's gorgeous. The rest of lunch they talk about weekend to come with him to a private place outdoors. He suggests that Bella tell her father who she'll be with so Edward has a reason to bring her back, but she decides not to. After lunch they head off to class.

Twilight pages 129-178
This section starts off with Bella dreaming again, but she doesn't dream of Edward. Instead the starring role in her dream is Jacob. She dreams that she's in the woods with Jacob when they both hear something. Jacob out of defense almost turns into a red and brown wolf. Edward then appears looking like a full on vampire while telling Bella to trust him. Jacob, the wolf, jumps at Edward to protect Bella. Right as she's about to see what Edward will do he wakes up. Not being able to sleep Bella decides to research more about vampires, and comes to the conclusion that Edward must be one. All of her research describes vampires as pale, gorgeous, strong, and fast. What else could explain his strength to shove the van out of the way?
The next day at school it is bright and sunny! but Edward is nowhere to be found. Vampires do not like the sunshine which explains why the Cullens would choose to live in Forks where it rains almost non stop. Bella then makes plans to go dress shopping with her friends Jessica and Angela in Port Angeles over the weekend to give her opinions on their dresses. On their way to dress shopping the girls talk to Bella more about the school's gossip, and apparently one of Bella's admirers,Tyler, is telling everyone that he's taking Bella to prom. While Angela and Jessica finish picking out dresses Bella tells them she's going to the bookstore and will meet up with them for dinner. Bella takes this opportunity while in town to find more books on vampires. When Bella leaves the bookstore she runs into some creepy guys, and that's when it occurrs to her how lost she is. The men corner her. Out of nowhere comes Edward in his shiny volvo to save the day. He scares the guys off and takes Bella back to the restaurant to meet up with the girls, but they've already eaten. Edward then suggests that he and Bella eat together. Over dinner Bella questions Edward about how he knew where she was? He then admits, "I followed you to Port Angeles, I've never tried to keep a specific person alive before, and it's much more troublesome than I would have believed. But that's probably just because it's you. Ordinary people seem to make it through the day without catastrophes. […] I was keeping tabs on Jessica [reading her mind][…] and at first I didn't notice when you took off on your own." Bella learns over the conversation that he reads minds, and that's how he came to her aid by reading the sketchy men's minds.

Twilight pages 68-129
During Bella's week at school she is now the spotlight once again for talk because of the accident. Everyone questions her and is curious to hear what happened. It seems like the only person who doesn't care to hear how Bella is doing is Edward. Edward is back to being extremely cold with Bella. He doesn't even try to make conversation during their Biology class, yet there are times when Bella wonders if he's as oblivious to her as he lets on, Only now and then, when his fists would suddenly ball up- skin stretched even tighter over the bones- did I wonder if he wasn't quite as oblivious as he appeard. The way his fists would tense up made Bella feel like he was aware of her.
The school dance is just around the corner, and Bella being a klutz is determined to not go. Which doesn't prevent any of the boys at school from asking her. Bella tells them all that she'll be out of town in Seattle that weekend.
Edward finally talks to Bella in Biology class: "I'm sorry. I'm being very rude, but it's better this way." Bella being so hurt and angered by Edward's words didn't know what he meant by them, and interpreted for herself that he regreted saving her from the accident. Edward denies regretting to save her, but it's hard to understand why all of a sudden he seems to hate her.
After school when Bella is walking out to the parking lot, she sees yet another one of her admirers, Eric, waiting by her truck. He asks her to the dance, and in an annoyed voice she denies him telling him that she'll be in Seatle. Bella then tries to leave her parking spot, but Edward speeds ahead cutting her off. It's as if he did it on purpose. While Bella is stuck behind Edward another boy approaches her car to ask her to the dance. Completely impatient now, she rejects him also saying that she'll be in Seattle. Bella looks up to see Edward in his rearview mirror. She feels like he's heard everything between her and each of the boys, In his rearview mirror, Edward's eyes were on me. He was unquestionably shaking with laughter, as if he'd heard every word both boys had said.
Talk about emotional whip lash, the next day it seems as though Edward has decided that he wants to be friends. He even offers to go with Bella to Seattle: "I heard you say you were going to Seattle the day of the dance, and I was wondering if you wanted a ride?" Bella takes a moment to contemplate his words, but initially agrees to go with Edward. They argue over whose car to take, but Edward wins. Bella asks Edward why he is being so nice. He responds with, "I said it would be better if we weren't friends, not that I didn't want to be." This line made by Edward sounds more like a warning.
Later on Edward due to his new found friendliness invites Bella to eat lunch with him in the cafeteria. Bella is still shocked by Edward's friendly behavior, and finds it weird that he wants her to sit with him. There conversation mainly consists of Bella trying to figure out why Edward is so strong and fast because she definitely hasn't forgotten his performance during the accident. She jokes that he must have been bitten by radioactive spiders to which Edward replies, "That's superhero stuff. What if I'm not a superhero? What if I'm the bad guy?" Bella suddenly realizes why Edward's been trying to stay away from her. She realizes he's dangerous...but not bad. After lunch Edward decided to skip out on Biology and Bella realizes it's because everyone will be pricking their fingers to determine their blood type.

During class she nearly passes out and wishes that she had skipped as well. The thought of blood is too much for her. Mike, an admirer, volunteers to take her to the nurse, but outside of class, Edward is already there to take her himself. When Bella feels better, Edward takes her home. During the ride, Edward gets Bella to talk about her mom, Renee. Bella wants to hear about Edward's family too but he won't talk about them and avoids the topic. Edward at the end of the ride announces that he's leaving for the weekend, "Will you do something for me this weekend? Don't be offended, but you seem to be one of those people who just attracts accidents like a magnet. So...try not to fall into the ocean or get run over by anything alright?" Bella is so overwhelmed just yesterday Edward hated her and today he cares about her well being?
When the weekend arrives Bella goes with her friends Mike, Eric, Tyler, Jessica, and some other people from school to the beach. She invites Edward during lunch on Friday, but he declines saying that the beach is too crowded. Everyone meets up at Mike's father's store. While at the beach they all have a bonfire and Bella gets to meet some of the guys that live on the La Push Indian reservation. One of the boys is Jacob Black. Jacob is the son of Bella's father's friend, Billy Black. Billy Black is the man who sold Bella's truck beacause he had recently been in an accident and was not going to able to drive again. Someone makes a comment about the Cullens saying that, "The Cullens don't come to the La Push beach." Bella is curious to find out what this means. She asks Jacob to take a walk with her hoping that he'll tell her more about Edward and his family. Jacob tells Bella a tribal story about vampires. He refers to them as "the cold ones." Jacob tells the story as if it's a ghost story meant to keep children up at night, "The cold ones are traditionally enemies. But this pack that came to our territory during my great-grandfather's time was different. They didn't hunt the way others of their kind did – they weren't supposed to be dangerous to the tribe. So my great-grandfather made a truce with them. If they would promise to stay off our lands, we wouldn't expose them to the pale-faces." Jacob goes on saying that Edward's family are the vampires that his grandfather made the deal with. They never grow old they just skip town before anyone gets too suspicious. Jacob suggests that years ago the deal was made, and then they moved away just recently returning.

Twilight pages 3-67
In Stephanie Meyer's first book to the series, Twilight, Bella Swan moves to the cloudy town of Forks, located in the Olympic Peninsula of northwest Washington State. Bella feels that it's best to move in with her father while her mother travels with her new husband. The town of Forks is the same town Bella's mother left her father in when she was only months old. In Forks it rains more than any other place in the United States, and is constantly under an omnipresent shade. Until the age of fourteen Bella had been compelled to spend a month every summer in Forks. Fourteen was the year she finally put her foot down, and started spending summer vacationing in California with her father. Even though Bella feels that moving is the best she finds it difficult to leave her home in Phoenix. She loves the sun and heat, and feels guilty for leaving her mother.
The flight was five hours, and then it took another hour of driving to reach her new home. Bella was worried after not seeing her father for so long that the car ride would be awkward. Bella's father seemed suprisingly pleased though to have his daughter back. Bella's father had already registered her for high school and bought her a car. He picked her up in his police cruiser as he is the town's sherriff. The reuniting of Bella and her father was a good one, but it is obvious that Bella inherited the trait of not being able to show emotions from him.
Bella describes her new home as green. She comments on the trees and the ground covered in wet moss. She even notices how the air filters down greenly through the trees like an alien planet. The house is just as she remembers it from the earlier years which makes her feel more at peace. Bella notes in this part of the book that the best quality about her father is that he doesn't hover. He left her to get settled alone instead of making meaningless conversation. Bella enjoys being alone and not having to look pleased all the time. It was relieving to be able to let a few tears fall over the home she left.
In such a small town starting school meant that Bella would be the new girl, the talk in the halls, and the one catching everyone's eye. Forks high school had a frightening total of only three-hundred and fifty seven students. Bella dreads being the center of attention so imagining what high school will be like makes her sick.
The first day of school was a blur. Heavy fog was thick in the air making it impossible to see, but this was just another day in Forks. To Bella's suprise she makes many friends. At lunch she notices a group of people who she later finds out are a family. The Cullen sibblings are perfect from their looks to the way they represent themselves. In Bella's Biology class she is forced to sit by the youngest of the group, Edward. He seems disgusted with her and makes no eye contact or conversation. Bella runs into Edward in the school office after class while he's trying to switch his schedule around so he can avoid having class with her. Edward realizes that Bella is watching him and runs out of the office immediately.
The next day, Edward isn't at school, and just about all the Forks High boys seem a little too interested in Bella. Mike, a boy in Biology, is "taking on the qualities of a golden retriever." Back at Charlie's house, Bella is unpacked. A couple days later, Edward still hasn't returned to school. "For all I knew, he had dropped out of school. I tried not to think about him, but I couldn't totally suppress the worry that I was responsible for his continued absence, ridiculous at it seemed."
When Edward returns Bella catches his eye in the lunch room which worries her about Biology class. He ends up being very friendly as they even work on a lab together, but there is something definitely off about this boy. During the lab Edward accidently touches Bella's hands and his are as cold as ice. Bella feels like she's an "open book," because she reveals so much information about herself during the lab, but Edward says, "On the contrary, I find you very difficult to read." He seems to find Bella interesting.
The next day, it's snowing outside and the school parking lot is slippery. So slippery, in fact, that while Bella is getting out of her car a boy loses control of his van and it starts sliding towards Bella. Edward somehow has time to dash across the school parking lot and push Bella out of the way.
Bella and Edward go to the hospital after the accident. Edward doesn't even have a bruise on his body, despite having stopped the van with his bare hands. Bella's doctor is Carlisle Cullen, Edward's adoptive father. After checking her over, he lets Bella leave. Bella curiously confronts Edward, wanting to know how he managed to save her. I feel like Bella should have just let it be and said thank you to Edward. It's really selfish to pull a secret for someone out of curiosity. After Bella confronts Edward he begins to be more standoffish causing Bella to believe he regrets saving her. Maybe he's just protecting his secret? He obviously has something he doesn't want her to figure out. Bella is furious, but gets nothing out him. However, that night, she dreams of Edward for the first time.
